Student Activities and Sports Carnival under the slogan 100 Days of Sports

Today, Dr. Louay Saad El-Din Nasrat, Acting President of Aswan University, Eng. Amr Lashin, Deputy Governor of Aswan, and Dr. Mustafa Bayoumi, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Student Activities, participated in the sports, cultural and artistic games carnival held on the university grounds under the title of the presidential initiative, a new beginning for building the human being, launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and under the slogan 100 Sports Days, under the auspices of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal, Governor of Aswan, and Dr. Louay Saad El-Din Nasrat, Acting President of Aswan University.

Dr. Louay Saad El-Din Nasrat, President of Aswan University, emphasized that the university has large sports facilities and components that aid in the organization of many sporting events and activities, including the university stadium, five-a-side football and volleyball courts, and beach football courts. An Olympic swimming pool is currently being developed, and with these sporting facilities, Aswan University has a sports town that serves both university students and the local population.

Nasrat went on to say that sports promote academic brilliance and physical growth, and that these activities aim to develop students’ skills and prepare them for employment in sports institutions and large clubs. Engineer Amr Lashin, Deputy Governor of Aswan, said that he is happy to be present at Aswan University and that these sports and artistic performances express the talents of the new generation and are nothing more than a youth carnival in various sports that can be worked on to refine, develop, and invest in youth, and that the governorate supports these sports activities on a permanent basis so that practicing sports is not limited to youth only, but we extend an invitation to the people of Aswan to make sports a way of life.

Dr. Mustafa Bayoumi, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Student Activities, pointed out that the 100-day sports initiative was launched by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, as part of the presidential initiative, “A New Beginning,” which is being implemented within Egyptian universities. We hope that the initiative will continue for 365 days throughout the year so that it will truly be the beginning of rebuilding students and working to qualify them to compete in the labor market in light of the unprecedented boom in higher education in the development of advanced study programs.

Dr. Adel Makki, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, explained that the day’s activities began with a sports show in front of the new university administration building, followed by the start of the race on the university campus in Sahari, and finally a 2 km sports walking race inside the university campus in Sahari. The sports day also features recreational tournaments and group games, such as basketball, volleyball, and tennis.
