As part of Aswan University’s and the Faculty of Sports Sciences’ ongoing commitment to advancing the educational and training system and strengthening cooperation with sports institutions, the Faculty hosted two significant events on Saturday, October 18, 2025, reflecting its continued dedication to supporting students’ practical and research development.
First Event: Field Visit to the Rowing Club
Prof. Louay Saad El-Din Nasrat, President of Aswan University, accompanied by Prof. Adel Mohamed Abdel Moneim Mekki, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences; Prof. Mustafa Gomaa, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Refaat Abdel Latif, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Dr. Mohamed Abed Hamada, Head of the Department of Wrestling and Aquatic Sports, conducted an official field visit to the Rowing Club.
The visit included attending a kayaking lecture, observing practical training sessions, and inspecting the boats, oars, and training equipment used in applied instruction.
A group of academic staff, assistant lecturers, and teaching assistants accompanied the delegation and expressed their admiration for the students’ remarkable performance and the high quality of practical training.
During the visit, several recommendations and initiatives were adopted to enhance sports activities, most notably:
Encouraging student participation in the Egyptian Canoe and Kayak Federation to engage in official competitions and activities.
Organizing training and qualification courses in kayaking and canoeing.
Conducting regular maintenance for boats and oars, and providing modern rescue equipment to ensure safety.
Discussing potential cooperation agreements between Aswan University, the Egyptian Canoe and Kayak Federation, and the Maritime Transport Academy to support joint field training programs.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation extended heartfelt appreciation to the Rowing Club administration for their warm hospitality and fruitful cooperation.
Second Event: Graduate Students’ Meeting
On the same day, an official meeting was held in the conference hall of the Faculty of Sports Sciences with graduate students (Master’s and PhD), chaired by Professor Dr. Adel Mohamed Abdel Moneim Mekki, Dean of the Faculty, and attended by Professor Dr. Mustafa Gomaa, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Refaat Abdel Latif, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.
Meeting Objective:
To discuss strategies for developing the graduate studies system and enhancing the quality of research and academic performance among postgraduate students.
Key Discussion Points:
Each student must personally register their coursework without delegation.
Researchers are required to publish one paper in Arabic and one in English as part of their degree requirements, both published free of charge.
Students are encouraged to improve their foreign language proficiency to qualify for international scholarships and research opportunities.
Emphasis on conducting independent research without assistance from external parties.
Mandatory attendance at specialized training courses for postgraduate researchers.
The need to document all practical procedures during thesis preparation to avoid administrative issues.
An invitation to actively participate in the Faculty’s 5th Scientific Conference, scheduled for February 2026.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Adel Mekki and the attending professors reaffirmed the importance of continuous communication between the Faculty administration and graduate students, emphasizing the Faculty’s full support for scientific research and its efforts to eliminate obstacles facing young researchers.
