In the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Board of Directors of the University Sports Federation is chaired by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi – University sports are a major source for discovering and developing sports talents.
– Expanding the base of participants in sports activities to build generations capable of achieving excellence.
– Linking the performance of the sports federation to the objectives of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
– The importance of interdisciplinary programs in sports sciences to provide integrated sports education.
The Board of Directors of the Universities Sports Federation approves:
– The accession of (Rashid, New Ismailia Private, King Salman) universities to the Federation’s membership
– Supporting the organization of the Fourth International Forum for Sports Tourism at Aswan University from February 20 to 22.
– Forming a jury for the Universities Sports Federation Awards for the winners of the “100 Days of Sports” initiative.
In the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, chaired the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Universities Sports Federation, in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, Secretary of the Private Universities Council, Dr. Maher Mesbah, Secretary of the Private Universities Council, Dr. Ahmed Kamel Mahdi, Secretary General of the Federation, Dr. Amr Allam, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Assistant Minister for Institutional Development, Dr. Ashraf El-Bagramy, Head of the Sports Sector at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the members of the Council.
Dr. Ayman Ashour began the session by welcoming Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, and expressing gratitude for the two ministries’ cooperation and coordination in advancing the university sports system in order to achieve accomplishments that are commensurate with the growth and success of general sports.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi emphasized the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ willingness to support university sports and provide all forms of assistance to Egyptian universities in organizing various sports tournaments and events, emphasizing the importance of expanding the University Sports Federation’s activities in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The Minister of Sports announced that Egypt will host the 2026 African Universities Championship, and that the headquarters of the African University Sports Federation will be located at the British University, with an opening ceremony attended by all international and continental figures, in light of the vision for the launch of university sports to be among the international ranks alongside the development of Egyptian sports.
