The Supreme Council of Universities holds its regular meeting at Aswan University

Implementing the mandates of His Excellency President of the Republic; the Supreme Council of Universities decides in its meeting:

1-Establishing Care Centers for talented, geniuses, and creative people.

2-Approving research plan to face challenges that face local governorates in the governorates.

3-Implementing programs for universities in cooperation with the ”Generous Life Initiative” to develop local communities in the governorates.

4-Organizing competitions for the choral of students universities and performances for the winning teams in the Culture and Arts City in the administrative capital.

– The Supreme Council of Universities also decides in its meeting:

1-Continuous of the first-semester exams according to their schedule.

2-Speed of finishing from control works and announcing results for students.

3-Obligating to the schedule of the second-semester exams.

The Supreme Council of Universities holds its regular meeting headed by Dr.Khaled Abdul Ghaffar- Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, today Saturday, Aswan University, in the attendance of Dr. Mohamed Lutyf, Secratrate of the Council, and the members of the council. The council thanked Aswan University group headed by Dr. Ayman Othman-University President to host The Supreme Council of Universities.

The council started its session by presenting measures taken by universities and committees that are formed by the council to implement the instructions of President/ Abdul Fattah Al Sisi- in his meeting at the Supreme Council of Universities, during the visit of His Excellency to Kafr El-Sheikh University, in the last 14 December, the council showed the reports of universities and the formed committees at the Supreme Council of Universities regarding the detailed executive programs for all directions.

     In this context, the Council approved the establishment of centers for the care of talented, talented, and creative people in universities, which includes several units: the artistic talent unit, the literary talent unit, the scientific talent unit, the technological talent unit, and the sports talent unit. These centers are specialized in cooperation with the departments of colleges and institutes in universities. By discovering and nurturing talents and geniuses in the artistic, literary, scientific, technological, and sports fields, and circulating specific programs to meet their needs, develop their capabilities, enhance their national belonging, and develop society’s awareness of the importance of talent, brilliance, and creativity, in cooperation and coordination with the Fund for Innovators and Geniuses.

     And in implementation of the presidential directive on linking the scientific research system with the formulation of practical solutions to the challenges facing society in all fields, the council reviewed all the executive research plans presented by the vice presidents of universities for postgraduate studies and research, and the council decided to approve the research plans submitted by universities, which face the various challenges that It confronts the Egyptian society in all economic, social, health and environmental fields in all governorates, and all of them contribute to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development of the state.

     In the context of implementing the presidential directives also to activate the role of universities in serving the local community, the council reviewed all the executive plans submitted by the vice presidents of universities for community service and environmental development affairs, and approved the executive plans and programs submitted by universities to serve the local community in all health, environmental and veterinary fields. Social, illiteracy eradication and capacity building, in cooperation with the “Decent Life” initiative.

     In the implementation of the President’s directives to allow technically talented students to present their performances in the City of Culture and Arts in the Administrative Capital, the Council reviewed the universities’ efforts in preparing and training university student choir teams, and conducting competitions between them, in preparation for giving the winning teams the opportunity to present their performances in the City of Culture and Arts in the New Administrative Capital during Next period. 

     The council also reviewed the efforts of Upper Egypt universities in arranging field visits for university students to major national projects in Upper Egypt, in cooperation with the relevant state institutions during the coming period, in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic in this regard.

     Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Adviser and Official Spokesperson for the Supreme Council of Universities, stated that the Council reviewed, in its meeting, a comprehensive report on the conduct of the exams at the end of the first semester of the current academic year. according to their pre-set schedules.

       The report indicated that the number of times that university and institute students attended exams for the first semester, during the period from January 1 to January 20, 2022, amounted to 95% of the total number of exam times, which reflects the students’ commitment to taking exams in light of universities applying strict precautionary and preventive measures. ; To ensure the maximum prevention of the emerging coronavirus, for all members of the academic community. 

      The official spokesman added that the Minister of Higher Education thanked the affiliates of universities and institutes for the full discipline in organizing the exams at the end of the first semester of the current academic year, and also praised the strict precautionary measures taken by universities and institutes, directing the need to continue in full discipline and adherence to all precautionary measures until the completion of the exams. With the continued raising of the state of maximum readiness in all university hospitals to continue their active role during the examination period, as well as their continued maximum readiness to provide their health and treatment services to citizens to confront the Corona pandemic, in full cooperation and coordination with the hospitals of the Ministry of Health and Population.

     The Minister also directed the speedy completion of the control work and announced the results to the students as quickly as required; To enable them to register for academic courses at the beginning of the second semester in all faculties that depend on the credit hour system.

     The official spokesman added that the council stressed the commitment of all universities and institutes to the timetable for the second semester of the current academic year, as the mid-term vacation of the current academic year begins on February 5 next for a period of two weeks, and the second semester begins on Saturday, February 19, and the study continues for sixteen A weekends on June 9, and the exams for the end of the second semester begin during the months of June and July, according to the system of each college and the nature of the study in it.

     The minister also directed the need to update the websites and official pages of universities, making them a vital tool for interaction with the university community and public opinion, in addition to developing the media performance system in all universities, enabling them to market their achievements to public opinion.

      Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, gave a presentation on the initiative to develop future skills and competencies for university students, which aims to develop skills: (social intelligence, digital skills, intellectual property, entrepreneurship, small, medium and micro enterprises, self-marketing, building networking, teamwork, and other modern skills). 

      The council agreed to include scientific materials on the subject of the development of the Egyptian family in the societal issues course, which is taught in all universities. 

      The Council decided to open the door for faculty members to apply to update their CVs and add new members, to start forming scientific committees and lists of arbitrators for the fourteenth session.
